MANILA, Philippines – Rappler talks to risk consultant Bob Herrera-Lim about the weakening of the Philippine peso.

On Tuesday, the Philippine peso depreciated to P50.3 against the dollar – its weakest performance in a decade. Weighed down by concerns of rate hikes in the United States, political uncertainty in Europe, and optimism ahead of America's tax plan, the peso's Tuesday's close is the weakest since the P50.32:$1 level recorded on September 26, 2006.

The Philippine peso remains the worst performing currency in the Asia, depreciating by as much as 5.72% this year.

Herrera–Lim, who is managing director of economic think tank Teneo Strategy, has been advising businesses not only with overall risk assessment at the regional and country level, but also developed and helped implement market entry, divestment and risk mitigation strategies.
