MANILA, Philippines – Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) kick started the new year with a new international route to Incheon, South Korea that departs from Clark International Airport in Pampanga province.
The new daily route started on Sunday, January 1, using the 199-seater Airbus A321 jet and will allow passengers from Central and Northern Luzon to fly to Incheon without passing through Manila.
The flight to Incheon departs Clark at 4:45 pm and will arrive at Incheon at 9:40 pm. The return flight leaves Incheon at 10:50 pm, touching down at Clark 1:55 am the following day.
It also represents PAL's first international route out of Clark.
“We will operate more flights outside of Manila not just to decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) but mainly to offer convenience to passengers who need not travel to Manila for their desired flights," said PAL President Jaime Bautista in a statement on December 30.
The flight allows travelers from Incheon to connect on PAL’s direct flight to Caticlan, gateway to Boracay. From Caticlan, PAL can also take Incheon visitors direct to Cebu
PAL said it would start operating a Clark-Davao route very soon and also plans to begin international flights from Boracay’s other gateway, Kalibo, in the first quarter of 2017. – Rappler.com
